A few pics from the night:
My good friend, ALT.
Enjoying the yummy Edgar's cupcakes!
JDurr, Rhonda (and expecting Peter any day now!!), Rachel, Em (due with Brooks in late December), JZ, me, and ALT
Where would I be without each one of you? Thank you for being such dear friends and for throwing me this shower and all the gifts. I love you!
On Sunday afternoon, we hosted a baby shower for Em at JZ's house. JZ was sick and didn't make some of our pics.
The delicious cake
Em's Granny made this quilt for baby Brooks out of old denim. One patch is from her Grandfather's old overalls. Em cried, I cried, the whole room cried. Grandparents are such special people.
Three years ago when Jessica was pregnant with Emma, we took this same picture signifying "all hands on deck". And the tradition continues here with Em...
And here with me! Miss McKenna will be blessed to know you.
Baby news: I'm 30 weeks and already in the third trimester. Wow, time has flown by! I'm hoping with the holidays coming up, the remaining 2 months will do the same! So far (knock on wood) pregnancy has been pretty good to me. I haven't felt terrible or anything really worth complaining about.
Lastly, please pray for my family. We lost my grandfather a few weeks ago. He was a lively 89 year old, who was strong willed and sometimes outspoken. He loved his family. And he was so excited about his soon to be great granddaughter! He was the person who taught me how to drive at a very very early age out in the pasture, he played kickball with us every Sunday, he would keep all the grandkids when the moms wanted to shop and threaten to tell our parents how bad we were but NEVER did, he drove me around in his golfcart saying he thought it would go faster than I probably wanted it to, he still wanted to jet ski every time we were at the lake (he would just roll his jeans up and hop on with Carrie, Lana, or me), he still liked to "shake a leg" and did so at Mandy and Jeff's wedding last November, he was the man who still lit up when I (or any of his grandkids) walked into the room and would still stand in the doorway with Mawmaw watching us until we pulled away, he still told me not to drive so fast and how I shouldn't be on that motorcycle bc I was pregnant, and oh this list could go on and on. He, like my Daddy, was one of the two men who loved me unconditionally since before I was born. Pawpaw, I will miss you always! Remember my family this holiday season. It's been a rough year for the entire family.
Lastly, I have so so much to be thankful for. I am thankful for my salvation and my home made in heaven. I am so thankful for my husband and both of our families and all of our friends! I am so thankful for this incredible miracle of life growing inside of me and growing our family by one. I am thankful I have a job, roof over my head, food to eat, and clothes on my back. I am truly thankful for this life as I know it.
Prayer requests: I have a host of requests as usual but especially my sweet friend, Lydia, who had a kidney transplant last March. Doctors are thinking her body is now rejecting the kidney. Please say special prayers for her.
ALT- prayers that she'll soon find a donor!
The JZs - as they are trying to adopt and would be wonderful parents.
Michael Bolding - fighting cancer.
Carolyn Parrish - had surgery to remove cancer and is recovering...and doing pretty well. Praise!
Eli Kent and Ella Ray - sweet babies who are so sick.
Happy Thanksgiving, peeps and homies!
XOXO,
Leah
